Ways to prepare for the cooler weather

Disconnect all water hoses this weekend!!
With winter fast approaching we would like everyone to be prepared and keep the following recommendations in mind:
1. For tenants who have electric or gas forced air furnaces- Change your furnace filters as part of regular maintenance in your home. We recommend changing furnace filters every month. If the filters are not changed regularly it can lead to furnace failure and possible repair expenses.
2. For tenants who have electric wall or baseboard heaters- Turn heaters off and allow them to cool prior to vacuuming. Removal of dust, animal hair and debris that has accumulated on vent grates over the past few months will help prevent odors and overheating of the unit when in use.
3. As the temperatures start to fall, please make sure that garden hoses are disconnected from your outdoor faucets. The water will not drain out of the faucet properly if the hose is left connected and the pipe can freeze and break as a result. By taking action to prevent this you will also protect yourself against potential charges for damages.
4. Rain Gutters- If you notice any foreign debris that has been building up and causing overflow please make sure that they are cleaned out and functioning properly.
5. Landscaping/Lawn Care- Please continue to keep up on mowing and raking of leaves and pine needles to prevent damage to lawns over the winter. Please secure any outdoor furniture and store away properly for the winter.
6. Please close all foundations vents around the home.
Please take care of each of these items as they pertain to your home. We appreciate your continued effort to care for your home and lot through the coming winter months. If you have any questions please let us know. Maintenance requests can be submitted on your tenant portal. Tenant Advocate 208-696-0545, Maintenance tech on file 888-406-1868 Ext 2.
